Here
I realized yesterday was one of the first weekdays I have not posted since starting this blog. It felt odd not to sit down with my computer after the day had come to a close, working out my thoughts of the day's events by typing away at the keyboard. But it's late February, and really, there's not much to say. Custom orders are being worked on, teething tablets are being consumed like candy, laundry is being washed, meals are being prepared, books are being read, and we're trying to enjoy the cold and snow, no matter how far away green grass seems.
Perhaps excuse the prior ramblings and just enjoy the picture. That's the sunlight at 5 p.m., hanging on a little more as each day passes. So you see? Spring really isn't that far away and soon beaches, picnics, catching fireflies, picking flowers, fresh tomatoes from the garden, laundry drying in the sunlight, and walks through the woods will follow. And then we'll be dreaming of snowmen, hot chocolate, cozy fires, mittens, and wool socks. So I think I'll just go on enjoying winter, because it really isn't that long, is it?

i'm enjoying every single day of winter. i love it! i want it to keep snowing. i bought a sled and i haven't even used it yet!

oh erin, we are soooo on the same page. your home is just beautiful and that photo is breathtaking, and sunny! how pretty. are you getting all this snow up there today? snow all day today and into tomorrow here - which actually is fine with me. it's when winter can't make up it's "staying or going" mind that makes me nutty. wishing you a lovely weekend.

i agree, it will be over all too soon :( there is something to be said about settling in the house by a fire. therapeutic for me. the sun is great at this time of year. love the shadow play.
enjoy your day.

I'm with you, telling myself spring can't be too far away. We live in upstate NY and just got a gifting of snow again last night. As much as I'm anxious for spring for the armer weather and increased sunshine, I'm also anxious because I'm huge and pregnant and spring is when I'm due.
I absolutely love your beautiful cabinet in the photo above and your blog has been so lovely to visit!
Blessings,
Hannah

lovely picture! and you are right...when spring and summer are here we will be thinking of winter...we are very lucky to live in a state where we can experience all of the seasons. One of the many reasons I love Maine!

Not sure what you call it but love the hutch or cupboard - winter gets to be a drag when you are on the cusp of a season change. We haven't seen much snow where I am this year and we miss it. We just get the extreme cold -- although today it is snowing---I guess this is the big snowstorm-- and the kids are home --- so out come the snow pants and boots for like the first time.

I love the light around five o' clock this time of year. I almost took a picture in my kitchen around that same time yesterday when I opened a cabinet and the warm glow of the late sun hit the glass jars, it was so beautiful. That is a fantastic picture you took and the words about enjoying winter were so sweet. Have a great day.

you have put it quite lovely. I feel the same way. Yesterday there was beautiful warm sunshine that melted the snow in our driveway, made me feel lik egrabbing our bikes and heading out for an adventure... but of course, there is still snow everywhere else, and it's still cold, but really not for much longer... so I suppose we should be grateful and have some more hot chocolate and herbal tea before that time is over...

How nice that you have a REAL winter. Here in Oslo we are already having spring weather on our WINTER vacation! My son who loves to ski has barely had the opportunity. I will stop sounding like I am annoyed and tell you that it is lovely to have such a mild winter! The sun was beaming down gloriously today! I haven't heard of the Dip Net that you mentioned. I wonder what it is.
Cool that you are going to have your own store and great about the interview.
I really look forward to seeing you and doing some thrifting in April!!!

Wonderful photo. As for the weather it seems that except for fall I am always wistful for the next one.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. Your post on winter had me thinking of the winter season and since I am in the south at the moment, I was motivated to dig out my winter photos from two years ago. I am happily reminiscing! Thank you!

I have so enjoyed seeing the way the sun hangs on a little longer each day. it brings hope on a dreary day.
I really love winter. I love the clothes, the snuggling in. I think what gets me is just missing the sun. But I am looking forward to the color and green of spring.
