Thanks for all your crafty suggestions on my last post! So far I have a list started of some neat projects I can't wait to try. A lot of you suggested knitting, and while I'd love to, my carpal tunnel prevents me from doing anything that repetitive. But I can't wait to try some of your sewing suggestions. Thank you again!!
My good friend Kat had a birthday recently. While she was over around Christmas, she remarked that she really liked some of the vintage ribbon I had hanging on our Christmas tree. I mentally took note of that and decided I would make her something with it. Kat loves wearing bandanas and headbands, so I pulled out my copy of Bend-The-Rules Sewing and found the headband pattern.
I tweaked it a little bit, using elastic instead of bias tape in the back. I figured tying a knot with bias tape would be uncomfortable and not hold as well. The elastic is very comfortable and the headbands stay on really well. Kat was quite pleased. And I couldn't resist making one for myself too!
And we have been slowly working on the house bit by bit. The living is the first room to be complete. We have debated what to do about the wallpaper, but everyone who comes to visit seems to fall in love with it. We think we'll leave it for a few years and eventually paint. But it's so nice to have one room done. Next we're working on the little one's room and eventually we'll tackle the huge job of the kitchen.
And now, I must go rest and lose myself in a good book!
