- Finally got my act together for a Bench Monday before it got dark
- Scored some super cool stuff thrifting the other day with a friend. The little one adores the wash board.
- Got my Danskos finally! Special thanks to a blog reader Nicolle!!
- Got this vintage sheet at the rummage sale. *love*
- Dinner tonight is carrot, apple, ginger soup and a salad.
- Sasa should be home any minute. Can't wait!
- this video and song is amazing...I think Norah's in love! (I'm not usually a fan of "rap" but I love this!)
- getting ready for Thanksgiving with the little one (anyone have any festive craft ideas??)
- looking forward to felting some bars of soap with the little one this week
- sleepy fairies are still doing an amazing job (yipee!)
- got an inhaler for a cough I've had for more than 6 weeks, waiting on pneumonia tests to come back (fingers crossed!)
- I used up my Pandora minutes for the month. I had no idea I played music that much!
- I'm really longing for jersey skirts and long wool sweaters with wool tights
- I really, really, really need jeans (see above photo!) Any petite readers out there with a good source for nice jeans??!
That's all I got this Monday! Hope yours was swell!
Just wanna say I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog!!! An idea for new clothes/new jeans is to have a clothes swap!!! I have a clothes swap yearly with about 15 of my friends and it is always a blast and we end up with each others give aways its amazing! If you are interested in the details email me and I can tell you all about it!

I may have to steal the sleepy fairy idea. My 4yo still sleeps with us (along with our 18 month old) and I think it's time for her to sleep in her room :)

Great photos! Love the washboard and bowl.
I had no idea Pandora gave you minutes to use? Must look into this. :)

Trinity :: Thanks so much! A clothes swap is a good idea, but theres nobody around that is my size. Thats the problem. Do you do it with friends locally, or do you mail clothes? I just got rid of a ton of clothes! I wish I had thought about a swap!!

nicole :: Wow! You must have a tight bed! Its worked for Elisabeth, although she is still in our room. Were going to try to move her out after Thanksgiving though. I need to focus on making her room very inviting and warm. Glad to see you here!! xoxo

Next time you are in Portland check out Material Objects on Congress St. They generally have a nice selection of jeans especially in smaller sizes.

ooh, I am wishing for wool tights and long wool sweaters too. My sister - she's 5 ft- gets her jeans from gap online and really likes the fit, long and leans I think.
My boys (and sister and dad) had coughs for about 6 weeks, that were really nothing. Just some sort of nagging virus, I hope that is all yours is nothing worse than that too.
Love that sheet too.

Erin, I can always count on you for great music! We have a similar taste I think. But i need new rotations. I get stuck (have played the same -older- Norah Jones album at least 100 times!)I love her voice.

Oh I just read the comments -- Material Objects is my ALL TIME favorite consignment store. Every year i make at least one trip there and never walk out empty handed. This fall I stocked up on funky skirts, sweaters and blouses. Just seeing that name brought a smile to my face!

I finally just a pair of Dansko clogs myself. Aw, We match. I have seen several Thanking trees out there in blogland. A large twig with cut out felt, fabric, or paper leaves works. Everyday you write something you are thankful for and hang it on the tree. Simple, meaningful, and cute.

Kristie :: Thanks for the lovely idea!!

Danskos. I have 4 pairs.
Bad, I know.
I chalk it all up to being a nurse. I wear 2 pairs for work and the others when I am off.
I LOVE this shot, torn jeans and all. You have piqued my interest with the felting soap.
Can't wait to see how it turns out.

jersey skirts are my ABSOLUTE favorite. They were the one non-maternity item I could wear all through pregnancy and still feel a little connected to my non-maternity style. They are cozy and comfy and a little bit dressy, a little bit not. I've managed to find all of mine (and I have quite a few) at various thrift stores. Of course, stock varies from store to store, all over the country, but jersey skirts are forgiving and a fairly easy fit to find. I hope to see some in future bench photos! +Chelsea

Hi!
I always check in on your blog...it's really lovely. I feel empathetic towards your clothing search. I've had some luck at stores that are more geared towards teens...they run smaller and also have short sizes as well. American Eagle has worked for me. Express runs smaller as well.

I like martin & osa jeans (on super sale) or jeans from gap are always good for me. If I get the petite length then they are the right length to wear with flats.
Cute bench Monday!

Jackie :: Thanks so much for the recommendations! i never would think to check stores like American Eagle! Ill try there!

all I can say is Pine Cone Turkeys!!! My little one made some today and loved it! she is 3 1/2 and loved the glue and tucked in leaves, feathers, and a little glitter, why not! googlie eyes made them so silly fun! do it, you'll have fun!

Elisabeth's great grammie and I are very proud that she loves a washboard! I used one myself when I was a little girl and then after having your older brother and sister I used it when we stayed at the lake for the summer and didn't have a washing machine. Remember the turkey you made in grammar school using your hand, spreading out your fingers for the back feathers and using your thumb for his head? Love you. Hugs and Kisses to Elisabeth from Baba

For a long jersey skirt pattern, check out the current STITCH magazine. I just bought some lovely wool jersey (hard to find) but haven't made the skirt yet. You can download the pattern on the stitch website, but you might have to get the magazine for the instructions.

My favorites for petite jeans are j.crew (spendier)and Old navy (cheaper) both offer petites via internet orders. J Crew even has a free "personal shopper" to consult re size. I am 5'2" and slender and the 2P are just right. If you can organize an clothes swap-count me in. It would be worth the flat rate shipping(seven bucks I think) to swap some items with other readers!

Andrea :: Thanks for the idea!!!

Jacqueline :: Oh, thank you for letting me know about the coat! Oh my...I so want it :)
Posted by: Bluebirdbaby | November 17, 2009 at 04:31 PM
is there a gap near you? back when i was a size 2/4 (sigh) it was the best place for me to find excellent fitting jeans. they also had various length sizes.
make a gratitude tree! you could write elisabeth's leaves for her.

Yay clogs! And the jeans with holes are probably a bit breezy but they sure look cool.
I buy petite jeans at Eddie Bauer and Ann Taylor Loft. ATL is also my preferred source for suits: they are cheap, CUTE, and their petites fit me without alterations.

You probably don't actually use up that much of your Pandora minutes. I think they just wanted to make a buck off of us. I started paying the extra .99 last month too, just to keep listening. But, hey...it's worth it for me! =) Loving your thrift finds!

Love the Merrell boots! The Rogue Mingo's are on my wish list.
I am 5'4" and size 2 and I only wear Lucky brand jeans. Sometimes they go on sale but they are always worth every penny! I like the Lola and Zoe~ I know you would just love them!
Your blog is beautiful!

Kathy-I am just about 54 and a size 0-2 too!! Nice to know about Lucky. I will check them out. I have good luck with Old Navy size 0P, but their jeans last like 6 months because they are in threads! Thanks for the jean tip :)
