the seasons are slowly transitioning from summer to fall around here. the leaves seemed to change almost overnight and the high temperatures that were an end of september gift have given way to chilly nights and brisk days.
we spent the weekend winterizing the house. putting up the storm windows and cleaning up the yard. prepping the chicken coop for the cold winter, adding manure to the gardens to put them to sleep for the cold months, and picking the pumpkins all ready for carving. we scraped and primed some of the outside in anticipation for a complete makeover next spring.
today the rain is falling heavily. mark is home from work until he starts an interior project later in the week. our new pellet stove is being installed in the living room right now and we are excited to take the chill out of the air.
this week will be a hectic one. many shoots far from home, and our final wedding of the year this coming weekend that means three days away from home. i'm trying to get lots of sleep and stay well fed and hydrated. sometimes i get working so hard i forget to take care of myself.
i just made a big batch of chai tea that mark and i are sipping with honey and almond milk. my wool socks and sweater are on and i'm settled in for a day of work before the little one comes home.
are the seasons shifting where you are too? what's your favorite thing about cold weather?
oh, and i'll be over at habit this month. (joining in a little late...when did october start anyway?!) would love to see you there!
