Oh man. What a day! I've been training my friend Maria (who has fallen completely head over heels with photography) for the past month. We took today to have a very long, on location photo shoot and lesson. So we headed to the big city for an urban setting. I was the model. I styled each photo, explained how I would shoot, what locations I would choose and why, what I would do with the light, how I would ask the person to sit or stand, whether I would have them smiling or serious, looking at the camera or not, etc. It was awesome. I learned that I love, love, love being in front of the camera. And Maria did an awesome job. All these photos are hers, edited by me. There are more on flickr. She's been shooting for a month (which is when I got her started) and has been fully in manual mode that entire time. She has done amazingly. I am so impressed!
I would love to do couple's shoots in Portland more often. I had SO many ideas. There are so many amazing architectural aspects that can add so much to a photograph. I love the urban setting and colors and textures. It's all so amazing!
Photography is awesome. I love it. I can show everyone how I see the world which is the greatest gift ever. I fall in love with it more and more everyday. How great is that?!!
And just a heads up, I will be offering one-on-one photography lessons online this winter. If you would like to be included on the mailing list, please e-mail me at erin@freyaphotography.com and I will add you to the list. I will have more info soon.

Words can not describe this day. I thought and thought about what I could say about this spectacular, unique wedding full of love, but my mind was just full of space and completely open to accepting everything about this amazing day.
These two are truly loved; by each other and the loving community of friends and family they have built around them.
Enjoy. xoxo.

Oh my. NYC was amazing, unbelievable, and oh so incredible. I can't wait to go back. It was beyond thrilling and my time there was way too limited. I'm planning another trip and bringing Sasa with me for sure. We're gonna shop and eat and walk and take in all the sights.
The reason for my short trip? The first Feet First Session. I signed up because I have been following OLOL and Max for a while now. It is so refreshing to see someone else in the wedding business capturing things in a unique and creative way. They are my inspiration and I felt like I couldn't pass this opportunity up. AND...it was on my birthday, which I felt was a sign from above. And a big thanks to Sasa who really urged me to do this. He is my biggest supporter and my business just wouldn't be my business without him.
We met at the Impossible Project (I have so many Polaroids from the day that I will share tomorrow...). I can't say enough about Jesse, Whitney, Max, and Margaux. They are the sweetest, most generous peeps ever. It was a pleasure meeting them and they were so inspiring.
I got so much inspiration from the session, so much knowledge, and so much motivation. I have so many new ideas and know exactly where I want to take my business. I'm beyond excited. I can't wait to get working. I can't wait to be behind my camera. I love it!
Here are some photos I captured from my brief visit. I'm planning on going back for some more photo shoots soon!

I finished editing a wedding recently and had to share these favorites of mine. I love when couples have fun during the shoot!
Gotta love it!
And here are some of me in action at the wedding. Thanks to Maria for snapping these!
I'm hoping to get together some tutorials to share over the winter on here. Does anyone have a request?

What can I say about the Perce family? They rock. They're full of giggles and silly faces and good food and fun. I learned just how handy trucks can be (seriously...an entire BBQ, potted mums and all, can fit in the back!) and how yummy burgers smell out in the open air. We met at one of my favorite locations, and one of the locations for my family photo shoot promo this October. There is a super cute children's garden, where these three spent what seemed like hours picking things for dinner.
And for all those with more than one child, photographing multiple kids in a family can be a wee bit tricky. But you have to go with the flow. Don't expect smiles from everyone all at the same time. It just doesn't happen, especially when you're shying away from the traditional posed shots. But here's what I love...years from now when you look back on your family photos and see silly faces galore, a hat pulled over somebody's head, or a burger face, you'll remember your children for exactly who they were and be so thankful for photos that capture their very essence.
So, without further ado, here's the Perce family! Enjoy!!
So I say...let kids be kids! I love all the crazy expressions and the pure joy of just being little. It rocks!

Sophie contacted me a couple of weeks ago after seeing Celia's photos and asked if I'd take her senior photos. I was totally psyched and couldn't wait for the shoot! I just love love love senior shoots! Sophie also asked if I'd combine this shoot with more of a fashion shoot for a modeling rep card. I got even more excited when I heard that!
So we had a lot of fun with this shoot. Sophie looked gorgeous, was super cute, and had a great selection of clothes to choose from. We had fun with some dresses at our second location. I am excited about designing her rep card. I think she totally rocked the camera!
Thanks Sophie...you were awesome!
